BIC: "What is your name? If I may ask, that is."

The female Hardman closed her eyes in sadness. "Nubila. I was once the leader of a tribe of Hardman norns. We lived together deep in the forest, hidden for years. We knew of Solaris and her dark reign, though she knew not of us, or so we thought. We multiplied our numbers, planning for the day when we would revolt against Solaris, and make the planet a safe haven for all once again, as it had been in the days of my ancestors."

Nubila stood up, and walked into a ray of moonlight. Phoebus stared at her. He could swear her fur was blue! A trick of the moonlight, perhaps.

"We didn't know that the Empress was creating more Grendels", Nubila continued. "One night, or perhaps day...it is always dark here...anyway, we discovered a lone Grendel outside our home. We saw no others, and knew that this intruder might be allied with the Empress. Out of self defense, we attacked and killed the Grendel. We had no idea that others were out there, and they were watching..."

"Days later, our home was invaded by an army of Grendels. Before them stood the Empress. I shall never forget the look in her eyes, as she glared at me...from that day on, I have been here. I rarely have a moment's peace. They won't even allow me to die. Though death would be my only escape from this horrid place." Nubila hung her head in sadness, ears drooping in despair.

"Where...where are the others?"

Nubila buried her head in her hands. "They're dead. Solaris killed many of them by her own claws. Every last one is gone. Except for me."

Phoebus growled and turned away. That had done it. He grabbed his recording device, and pressed a button on it. "Your Majesty...I have been captured by a Banshee, on the planet Ecliptica. Send reinforcements to my coordinates at once."

Thérèse bowed fawningly to the Empress. "Your wish is my command."

BIC: Solaris looked down at the bowing Shee, nodding her head in approval. "Go to my palace, and there you will find Obsidia and Darkstorm. They are my head grendels. Perhaps the three of you can coerce answers out of that Hardman."

High above the tops of the trees, an ornate, rather organic-looking ship hovered silently. Not a light could be seen upon it, as the creatures within were on a secret mission. "Look, there it is!" A norn shouted, pointing to the castle that loomed out of the moonlit landscape like a shadow. Pairs of Hardman eyes narrowed as they gazed down at the structure, which seemed to have been built of black stone. Collective growls were heard, and there was a slap somewhere in the back of the ship. "Save it for the grendels!", a norn General ordered. Every Hardman was on edge, ready and willing to fight if they had to.

"Phoebus is the priority", declared Queen Aitha Luna, from the relative safety of her palace. "Be sure he is safe, and bring him back home." A female Hardman saluted her queen with a bow, before directing her attention once more to the castle that now stood directly before them.

If I do make a Creatures Character, would there be a possibility, if I read the current story, that my soon-to-be creatures character could take part?

BIC: Thérèse straightened up, grinning evilly. "Your wish is my command, Empress." She headed towards the palace, neither looking up or down - unmindful of the great ship hovering above her head.
She walked into the palace and saw two grendels staring at her. "Are you Obsidan and Darkstorm?" she asked.

OCC: Good 'N' evil eh? This shall be an... interesting outcome.

(OOC: Where the heck is Star Voice? Did ES bail out?)

BIC: "Yess...that would be us", Obsidia hissed darkly. "Her Imperial Majesty stated you should join us? Good. Follow us." With that, Obsidia and Darkstorm led the way to the dungeon, where the two Hardmen were kept.

Phoebus growled and glared at them, though Nubila shivered and stepped away to hide in the corner. On instinct, Phoebus attacked Obsidia, who promptly picked him up, as though he were a mere Hoppity, and threw him against the wall. Nubila shrieked in fright, as Darkstorm stood over Phoebus. "You fool! We are immortal, and it would be choosing death to attack us."

Gritting his teeth through his pain, Phoebus gasped, "What...what did you do to her?"

"That traitor is no concern of yours", Obsidia replied, casting a dark glance in Nubila's direction. "But now you will tell us everything about where you came from, and why you are here, or face the wrath of the Empress."

"Phoebus...tell them...." Nubila whimpered.

"Never", Phoebus answered defiantly. "If I must die in the name of my Queen, I shall."

(OOC: I don't want Phoebus to die. He's just a stubborn little guy. )

Thérèse smiled nastily. "Oho, your queen, eh? Come on, out with it. You know, you could be out of these dungeons if you tell us everything, get some decent food, maybe part of the army even if you swear your loyalty to Her Majesty Empress Solaris... or you could be a frightened, shivering wreck like that pitiful excuse for a norn," she pointed to Nubila, shivering in the corner. "Or better, you could be tortured 'till you scream for death..." She looked the norn over carefully. He seemed pretty tough, and she felt it would take more than that speech to cow him into submission.

OOC: I really didn't want to end this so quickly, but since ES left the roleplay, and no one else is joining, it would be pretty hard to make it "long and epic" as I had envisioned, with only two players. *Sigh* Besides, I want to get those Ecliptica Hardman norns released. The war between Aithalis and Ecliptica will come at a later time, perhaps when we have more members here.

BIC: "Death? Oh, I think not!"

A cheery and familiar voice rang out through the room. Phoebus whirled around and saw a Siamese norn standing in the dungeon window, wielding a laser she had used to cut through the bars. Even in the pale moonlight, her fur shimmered a brilliant gold. Her blue eyes glared in the direction of the Grendels, and the traitorous Shee.

"Sundance! What are you doing here? How did you find me?" Phoebus was both aghast and overjoyed at the sight of Aitha Luna's second-in-command.

"No time for that!" the golden Siamese answered. With these words, she threw something to the entrance of the room, where the Grendels watched with glaring eyes. There was a hissing sound as a misty vapor rose from the object. In a moment, Darkstorm and Obsidia appeared to faint, falling to the ground where they stood.

Nubila gasped. "What's that?"

"Sleep toxin", Sundance replied. "Now let's get out of here! Follow me", and with that, the norn leaped up into the spaceship that was hovering just above the window. "Come on!"

Phoebus swept up Nubila, and held her in his arms. She looked up at him quizzically. "Where are we going?" she asked.

"We're going home", he answered, and jumped up to the window frame, and in a moment they were both aboard the spaceship, which soared away into the dark sky.

Back on Aithalis, a grand celebration was held in Phoebus' honor, and his safe return. Nubila was fed until she could hold no more, and she was given her own room within the palace, darkened to the similarity of a moonlit night. Having lived all her life under Ecliptica's dark skies, she never entered the throne room by day, as it would take her months, perhaps years, to adjust to the light of Aithalian skies. Nevertheless, she swore loyalty to Aitha Luna, and vowed to join her, with Phoebus at her side.

Phoebus was given a set of injections by his queen, so that his now-blind eye literally repaired itself from within. He would never have quite the amount of sharp vision he once had in that eye, but his strong will more than compensated for that loss.


Days after the rescue, on a warm Spring night, Nubila stood by herself on the balcony of her room, gazing up at the moon of Aithalis. Below, she had a view of the entire city, with the stretching forests beyond, all aglow in the silver light.

"Are you all right?"

Nubila turned to find Phoebus standing beside her. "Yes...the nights are beautiful here. On Ecliptica, the clouds hid the moon much of the time. But here, everything is so clear." For a moment, she averted her eyes and sighed.

Phoebus took Nubila's paws in his own, and looked into her eyes. "Something is bothering you. I can see it."

Nubila closed her eyes sadly. "It's just that...I'm the last of my kind. All the Ecliptican Hardmen are gone..."

"I wouldn't say that", came the gentle voice of the great Shee queen. She walked into the room, holding a just-hatched norn in her arms. She handed the infant to Nubila, whose eyes widened as they fell upon the blue fur that mirrored her own. The norn was none other than a baby male Ecliptica Hardman.

Nubila could barely speak. "How...how did you do this?"

Aitha Luna smiled mysteriously. "I found a shed hair of yours, and used the DNA to reconstruct the Ecliptican Hardman genome. For that is what I am, a geneticist. I shall hatch others, but he is the first. I can think of no one better to raise him than you, and Phoebus." The Shee turned to walk away, and heard Nubila's whispered "Thank you" as she left them.

"Sleep toxin! Of ALL things!" Solaris was furious, even days after Aitha's secret mission restored Phoebus to his home, bringing Nubila with him. She stormed to her control center, a supercomputer with a database of the surrounding universe. "Show me the closest planet" she ordered, and in a moment, a green and blue sphere appeared, interspersed with white clouds. The Banshee growled with envy, for this planet indeed saw the sun on a regular basis. "Aithalis....that must be where they are." She zoomed in to the image, and found a populated city. The database showed that this was ruled by Aitha Luna, whose image appeared onscreen.

"A Shee...so close to me? SHE WAS THERE ALL ALONG!" Solaris smashed her fists down, sending sparks flying. "One day, Aitha...one day, I will have my revenge."
